"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."
As I remember, I was seeking the Lord and as I was praying, God began to impress this Psalm in my heart. The verse that stood out to me was the 3rd verse and it was at that time that God was going to begin to do a work in me and through me. We need to understand when God wants to move He is going to move. More now than ever, we need to be careful about what we are listening to or allowing to occupy our minds.
V.1 says not to follow in the counsel of the ungodly. Make sure that what you're listening to is biblical. Delight in His statutes because He will not lead you wrong. V.3 states "he shall be like a tree planted by the river." Have you ever seen a tree rooted into the riverbank? Especially a mature tree? The tree is receiving all that it needs. It has water, the nutrients from the soil, roots that grab into the soil that hold it firmly in place.
The Holy Spirit is that which gives life, the word that feeds us, and the foundation of God's doctrine which keeps up root. Forget about all those that just want to make you feel good. WE NEED NOT TO JUST FEEL GOOD, WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO BE REST ASURED THAT WE ARE SERVING GOD WITH ALL THAT WE HAVE, living by His word. Root yourself in doctrine, not just any old word. Let us seek the Lord while He may be found, and seek first the Kingdom of God!
